If "Gay Marriage" is the goal, are we not going about this backwards ?
I do not contend that we should NOT fight for marriage equality. Far from it. We should have had this civil equality ten years ago. Should we not however also focus on the other end of the spectrum and lobby and agitate for compassionate parenting and judicious schooling, and demand a proper dating culture for our gay youth ? Are GSA's (gay straight alliances) the most efficient way to do this ? Why can we not lobby state legislatures to put pressure on school boards to allow equal access for gay and lesbian youth to school events without fear of discrimination ? I hate to say there "ought to be a law." But there ought to be a law. A federal one at that.Screw the fear mongers and their shrill cries of "recruitment" ! Until we get a proper dating culture, starting in adolescence, we cannot hope to claim stable monogamous unions as our normative behaviour. The fact is we have inherited a bar/public toilet/craigslist culture with all of the slippery liaisons it implies. I dislike speaking in generalities, but at times I look about me, and it is all I see.
Are there no gay rights lobbyists who will speak to this ?
@ Erbe.Alex I'm not putting GSA's down. Perhaps the role of a gsa is as a social organization and not a political lobbying group. Thats up to you guys to determine. Btw it seems to me that serving as a "dating service" for freshmen as you call it, is not all that bad a thing. Just my thoughts as an old fart.
@Momperson : You are of course correct. And one fight at a time. It just seems to me that we are putting the cart before the horse....It galls me when I hear "family values conservatives" spout their nonsense and give us all no chance to make better lives at the expense of their silly ideology.
@Cathy B. Well. I recall once listening to a radical feminist at a rally who condemned marriage as an outdated "chattel contract" that needs be done away with eventually, but if the gay community needed to "go through this stage" so be it. etc. etc. The largely gay crowd listened to her politely like one listens to the crazy aunt kept in the attic ranting about "dem coloreds". Yeah. Thats what I think of "gender studies".

There is a debate today among sociologists and historians over our ethnic diversity and its history. Does Christianity encourage sexual promiscuity and other deviant behavior?
I was having a conversation with a relative awhile ago. He asked me if I had a girlfriend. I told him that I didn't have any trouble meeting women; instead, I have trouble meeting women who do not have a lewd past. I believe in moral virtues, so one requirement I have for a girlfriend/wife is for her to not have defiled herself with sexual misconduct. I explained how I'll probably have to meet a girl from another culture, since statisically 95% of American women don't respect their husbands enough to not sleep with other men.I was promptly chastised by my relative. He explained how he doesn't even know how many women he's slept with because it's so many, but that shouldn't matter to his wife because she gets him for the rest of her life, which sounds like utter bullshit to me.
Next, he gave me a patronizing lecture about how we're all "born with sin." He then explained how Jesus died for everyone's sins.
My relative is actually quite religious. Nonetheless, he engages in sociopathic sexual misconduct by sleeping with women he meets at bars and other places—so many, in fact, that he doesn't know the number. Compare this Christian who is a prolific fornicator with me, an atheist who is chaste.
Anyway, the point that I want to make is that Christians will engage in sociopathic behavior like prolific fornication and say that it's okay because we're all born with sin and Jesus died for everyone's sins.
Do you want to sleep with over 100 women? Do you want to steal? Do you want to engage in any other sort of misconduct? No problem!—Just believe that everyone is born with sin and that Jesus died for everyone's sins, and you're okay!

What are some different, unusual and/or fetish practices from around the world?
Since OCG people seem to be into discussing sex today, culturally speaking of course... what are some various things that are common to certain groups or cultures, in the bedroom, that other folks might deem freaky or strange. For instance, I did a report on the Philippines years ago and remember something about there being such a thing as spurs that went on the penis so that the men can rape their women and they could not get the men out of them (it was NOT a modern practice btw)... like how cats have spikey penis, mate with the females and they scream. Also, it seems that bondage, sadism, masochism and dominance/submissives are common in the western world. I'm also aware of some fetishes that seem to mostly come from the Asia, such as snuff and mingling with frogs, octopus, eels, you name it.
Anyone know of more than that or have opinions on the matter as to why some groups are into specific sexual acts?
@Ragnar - Awesome. I'm down for that.
Oh yeah... and I've heard that some Mexicans, because they are devout Catholic, will not eat p*ssy. Is it true that some people of this religion are against certain sexual acts (besides the given which is anal) or what about other faiths, what are they for or against sexually?
Pytanie #8:
Does burning heretics alive prove the Catholic Church has no special guidance from God?
1. It is a well documented fact that the Catholic pope and thousands of Catholic bishops, and hundreds of Catholic saints, over hundreds of years gave 100% approval to the burning at the stake of thousands of people whose only crime was to believe something about God that the Catholic Church did not approve of.2. To me, this seems like strong evidence that the Holy Spirit was not guiding the Catholic Church, at least during a period of about 600 years.
3. I don't think anyone can argue that the Holy Spirit ever approved of burning at the stake people whose only crime was things they believed or said to some neighbor.
4. It also seems undeniable that the Catholic Church only came to eventually disapprove of burning heretics because of developments in secular culture (the Enlightment movement, etc.), not because of developments initiated inside of the Catholic Church.
5. The approval and endorsement of burning heretics by Catholic popes, bishops and saints does not make the Catholic Church worse than any other Christian church or any other religion, it seems to me.
6. Rather, this history just seems like powerful evidence that the authorities of the Catholic Church have no special guidance from Heaven, have no superior access to the Truth.
7. Really strong evidence is the fact that Catholic saints specifically approved of the burning of heretics, and were even involved in investigations and trials leading to the burning of heretics. (St.Louis [King Louis IX], for example, and perhaps St. Dominic).
8. So, it seems that today's popes and bishops should be seen as having no special authority from God to rule and teach.
Agree or Disagree?
P.S. Some Catholics make the utterly weak argument that the Catholic Church itself did not carry out the burning of heretics, but secular governments did. Even if usually true, it make no difference. The Catholic Church leaders never condemned what the secular governments were doing in this regard, and, in fact, several holy councils of the Catholic Church specifically recommended that heretics be burned.

Err...I have been called an asian poser, though my mom is half chinese and half vietnamese, and my dad is white. So I am half asian, and I love the Japanese culture, I am english second language and I am learning Japanese. I love anime, manga, hello kitty and other cute things.. I like to use the word kawaii when describing sometimes. I can speak almost fluent japanese now so I understand anime without subtitles, and I love japanese, korean, vietnamese, and chinese music. But I am currently living in China. So ..Am I A Weaboo?I also love Pocky, but ramen is a staple for me and my family.
Actually, I am quite fluent in the language after taking a vacation there last spring, I learned so I could communicate. And you are probably thinking that I am that type that learn Japanese from anime, well I am not, because generally it is not the right order. So I am slightly offended by what that person posted. And I have Japanese friends that are also teaching me.
And I dont mean that when I say kawaii that Im fluent. I am generally saying I just like the word.

My teacher uses N.e.g.r.o, but another one of my teachers says that's inappropriate, she uses Black. My teacher uses Neg... ro when talking about musical history. And he's not racist, he finds story of freedom of slaves so insperational, and he believes without the music slaves brought with then music would not be so important in North Americas culture. Even Y!A blocks out N-egr-oI usually don't use terms to differentiate people between their races, heck, it took me 4 times of watching Jump In and 2 times of watching High School Musical this morning while baby sitting, and 4 years of his poster on my wall to realize corbin bleu was black. I don't tell the difference between races well, besides Asians. I know them, lol, it's just this thing... with this person....
Anyways. but sometimes during school, for example when writing an essay, i find myself needing a word for those of us with darker skin, and end up changing my topic.
If you find this question racist, (which would be crazy) then just to be fair go ahead and call me something. (Only for black people)
I'm a Native American
Also, why is okay for black people to call each other the N word and it be okay, but when people of other races say it, it's not.? I think that if they want people to stop being racist like that, they should stop using the word themselves. I don't care if they are black, it's still not okay. I don't go around calling other native americans Wagon Burners, do i? Well, i don't, because that wouldn't be right if i didn't want people to call me that.

I don't understand any of it, and quite frankly, it bothers me. I do not believe that anybody is better or worse than anybody else. but one thing i DO want is for it to be a CROSS CULTURAL study. i would reallly like it if my study compared across cultures.
my question iiiis:
if i go ahead with this topic, ...what do i do? i mean itll be qual report and need 7000 words. but what will i have to do?? is it literally JUST gather evidence (either by interviews/news articles/ytube vids etc etc)...or am i missing the obvious here??
in my mind, ive also got the idea that as a part of my report, i will include certain conversations and show wht i have concluded from it. but when i think this, i think "nooo thatll prolly form my methods section or something"..and then i think.."well...what DO i write??"
so as u can see im going round in circles.

Are you a breed 'elitist'? Silly, fun, but kind of serious.?
I got a poodle after planning for years to get a Sibe or a Shiba. (The woman i was living with at the time suddenly had respiratory problems so obviously a high shedding breed was a no go!)I entered into the breed, knowing a few books worth of information and one previous poodle in my life int he form of a neighbors farm dog.
So, even though i got the poodle, in a way, by accident. I've found myself really getting into the breed 'sub culture' as it were, with a list of famous owners, really helped me with my grooming. I love the guy, i love the breed. More then i think i ever did love the idea of the sibe.
I love all dogs, and will never say one is better then the other (It's purely your own opinion and circumstance,) And damn if i don't still love mixed breeds. Seriously, love them, some of the best dogs i've ever met have been mixed breeds.
But recently it definitely seems like i'm getting very into the breed, i see another owner i stop to talk, i delight in tales about amazing poodles, and love showing my boy's tricks and commands off.
I know a lot of people who are very 'elite' for their Labradors, and many Chihuahua, Bulldog, Yorkie and Sprocker (English Cocker/springer cross) Spaniel fans. Who would never think of a different breed, and seem to think that their breed is the bees knees, best thing in the world.
So, would you say you were? If so for what breed? And was it an accident like me and the poodle?
Oh, and mixed breeds, mutts, mongrels, bitzers (Bits of this, bits of that) etc. They count as a breed! Because they are wonderful and have some of the most loyal owners in the world!
As mentioned, the dog you like is based on your circumstances, but a lot of people will only ever get one breed, and will have this high view of that breed. And will often forgo having a dog if they can't have that breed.
The lab owner i know had to go five years without a dog because she moved from her larger country home to a town flat and couldn't really give a good life to a dog. One of the first things she did after getting the new house was get a lab!
I'm talking about loving to read things, watch things and talk about you breed. You don't even have to own a dog to be a fan of the breed.
I don't really like the word elitist either, and was only using it as a jokey kind of thing. Trying to make it obvious that this was a fun question.
I would never use it outside of a jokeing sense, i only used it because i found out one of my favourite authors was a poodle person and i smiled, laughed and cheered, followed by 'oh crap, i've become an elitist' and more laughing XD
(But i have had hobbies where the word is batted about for companies and such, so maybe i was the only one who saw it as a clear, obviously joking word :S )

Do you think there should be more public schools (elementary, middle and high) with curriculum dedicated to certain cultures (asian, latin american, etc) ?of course state standards would be covered, just directed more towards how it pertains to said culture. I know of a few African schools, that do this.Stop creating accounts Hermie, you have no life.
Its not meant to "cater" to anyone, most of the kids who go to said african school are WHITE. It has to do with different perpectives on history, not "who can we try not to offend today?" thats not what I'm asking.
America Offline: The only reason I didn't mention European centered schools was becuase I didn't see the point in listing istory from the perspectives of every continent, thats kinda what the "etc." was supposed to mean. Besides, American history is told from the perspective of European protestants and there are numerous European history courses integrated into public schools, including mine.

Pytanie #49:
Are women non-existent in the Arab world?
A lot of the non-Arab women who actually lust upon Arab men, later think they are the biggest mistake God ever created on the face of the Earth.Sadly in today's Arab culture (Not Islamic) women have no place in humanity. They're not allowed to speak, think, or work. Women are taught from birth that their only purpose in being is to serve male copulation and male desire. One may ask, why Arab girls actually go to university today. It's not like their oppressive husbands will let them have a career anyway.
A Warning to all the non-Arab women who want Arab men, or are thinking of getting with an Arab - These men are incredibly lazy and irresponsible. A lot of them try to immigrate to several European countries and rape European women. Arabs believe the only purpose women serve is satisfying male orgasm. They believe an independent woman, free to live her life for herself and be sexually autonomous, that is, to break as little or as many male hearts as she desires, is the ultimate sin in Arab culture.
Yes, use the jealous card.
That's all what you Arabs do to further prove the truth, instead of trying to refute it. Just goes to further show what I speak is the truth.
I live and work in Kuwait, so unfortunately I know how you sneaky Arabs are first-hands.
